My main interest is in the mathematical education of students in the applied sciences. In research I mostly work on differential equation models of physical and biological processes. These differential equations range from ordinary non-linear equations to partial differential equations. Through the study of a class of linear diffusion equations (the Fokker-Planck equation), also stochastic differential equations are being included. Because of my role as supervisor of students working on a PhD thesis this type of mathematical modeling is applied in various fields of science such as agriculture, biology, hydrology and meteorology.
